blah…blah…blog?

I have been thinking a lot lately about what I’m going to give to my children and grandchildren. I don’t really have any earthly possessions beyond what I use day to day. You might say that any fortune that I had accumulated or planned to pass on took the same egg drop that I did.I expect it to stay that way the rest of my life. Sure, there are all the optimists that ask, “What if you got better and begin to earn money again?”, or “What if you made a computer app that went viral and you got fabulously wealthy like that Suckinbird guy?” It’s not that I’m a pessimist at all, quite the opposite, but I think you would find me floating more toward the realist corner of the triangle. While those optimistic dreams may come to pass, the reality is that I’m going to die. So what do I do while I’m in this holding pattern? Should I fritter away my days on vain pursuits that may ultimately equal lots of sweat equity and no sweet inheritance? Or is there something that I can do today that will give to the future?

By the very fact that you are now reading this blog sometime in the future, you have answered my question. I write this blog with the intention of passing it on to others. I suspect that either most of you or probably all of you are up branch from me.For better or worse, I am down tree from you. My hope is that this blog may pass on some nourishment so you may sprout and gather rings just as I have. May I nourish you with: some history for the days that you don’t want it to repeat; some knowledge that you may grow wisdom; some wit to clear the way when the word is more than the sword;some courage to grow towards the sky on days when drooping down is easier; and encouragement for you to absorb the sun on days when tree huggers push away in apathy and loggers attack you with the saw of criticism.

There will be some who will claim that my purposes are self-serving and they will search my blog for any shred of advertising. To them I promise my uncompromising standard of “free blog”, as in freeware, as in free words and the free root beer. If you find a link in my blog, it is to something that I care about, have reviewed myself, believe in, and offer up link paper plate with no kickback to me. The best cup of hot chocolate you can buy me is you.

While I’m okay about plagiarizing, I’m very not okay about plagues as in bugs, worms, snakes, Trojan dragons, or anything that seeks to harm another in any way. Remember, there are children reading this blog so take your plagues and run to the mean children’s playground. Kind comments are always allowed and encouraged.

I am filled with imperfections, many of which will become glaringly obvious as you travel with me. Hopefully some of my goals will be reached. Remember, you can never fly to the moon unless you put a monkey in space first!
